In fact the 338 Spectre has more energy at 1000 yards. loads through a Noveske 10.5 Gen III SBR with a SilencerCo Omega suppressor. Muzzle energy for the 338 Spectre is not only great but it holds on to it longer and better then either the 300 Blackout or a 44 Magnum. Choose from 300 Blackout silencer models. While the 300 Blackout has great muzzle velocity then the 338 Spectre, the 338 Spectre has more favorable ballistics due to the higher B.C. and thread pitch options, so finding the perfect one for your rifle is quick and straightforward. slightly higher grain weight smaller diameter non-expanding solid from a 300BLK.ģ00BLK supers are obviously much better than any 9MM for hunting or defense but then the noise difference is a sizable delta. Remington 147gr 9mm Subsonic JHP 50 Rounds VLTOR A5 Buffer Kit M&P 15-22 25RD Mag HK VP9 17 Round Magazine HKS. ![]() In terms of hunting (or self defense) I question if either variants in subsonic form are really the best choice and further to that end if subsonic 147gr 9mm self defense/expanding HP ammo may be just as real world effective against a medium size game animal vs. Arthor’s defensive round of choicethe Barnes VOR-TX Ammunition 300 AAC Blackout 110 Grain TAC-TX. What to choose, what factors went into the decision to build. Subsonic 9mm is much cheaper to shoot vs. Building my first 300 blackout short barreled rifle (SBR) for home defense. However, in as close as an apples to apples comparison as you can get where the barrel length, suppressor are the same and we are looking at subsonic 9mm vs 300BLK the 9 is going to beat it every time. This rifle would be completely hearing safe (no need for ear protection) and would deliver a lot of kinetic energy to the bad guy, just at the cost of potential. Obviously the degree to which 9MM will beat out 300BLK in terms of report will vary depending upon ammo, barrel length, suppressor, etc. However, if you want maximum stopping power, it is hard to beat a 30-round magazine full of 220 grain subsonic 300 Blackout ammo raining righteous vengeance out of a suppressed SBR. With that being said they were pretty effective on the pigs that I did hit when it fired, but not much use being effective when they do not feed reliably.I will agree with the other posters above, based off my experience 9MM will be measurably quieter. I tried filing the sharp edges of the feed ramps and while it did help some they would still miss feed every 5 rounds or so. They fed when there were only 5-7 rounds in the magazine, but once loaded with 10 or more not very well at all. There I sat 10 yards from 20+ pigs with a rifle that hung up round after round. This happened several times including once when I had a huge sounder cornered in a field surrounded by pig fence after they found an opening and could not find their way out. But for lighter bullets going SUPERSONIC there will be burn issues and subsonic with lighter bullets is outside the original design spec. My issue was the copper part of the bullet just past the flex tip insert would get caught on the feed ramps and would not chamber. The 300 WTF/BLK/Whisper consumes the powder in a nine inch barrel at SUBSONIC with a 220 grain load. My Aero M4E1 upper/lower with a Ballistic Advantage 10.3" Performance Series barrel did not like to feed it very well, and I tried three different types of magazine including the P-Mag 300BO mags. I did not have very good luck with the Hornady 190gr Sub-X like ARx3 did.
